My Story
Alaska is the GREAT LAND.
Throughout our young history, we have done great things, but the challenges we face have changed.
My own kids (all seven of them!) don’t remember the times of rapid growth and expansion – when the momentum of our development earned respect in D.C. My children can never imagine how truly powerful we were back then.
There was something in the air: we were a young state where every Alaskan understood that we were doing something great.
But, have you talked to Alaskans lately?
The old universal Alaskan understanding has slipped into thin air. We are losing our kids to outmigration every year, and Lower 48 partisan gridlock and politicking are trying to interfere with our Alaska model of working together.
It's time to
Secure Alaska's Future.
Our kids are never going to understand the possibilities until they see something happen before their own eyes. That meant we needed a new approach (or an old one – if you’re old enough to remember).
As Alaskans, we are always building on the foundations laid by the giants that walked before us. Giants like Ted Stevens and Don Young, who traveled down to D.C. understanding that their only objective was to deliver for Alaska.
And they certainly delivered.
As Alaskans, we must honor the memory of their mission and show our children that there is a future where we as a state can get things done once more.
I have been hard at work doing just that.
In less than two years I have overcome partisan gridlock to:
- Reamplify our voice in DC.
- Work with our bipartisan delegation to bring home projects to preserve the Permanent Fund.
- Ban predatory industrial and foreign trawlers.
- Bring home $46 million in funding to secure our Alaska border.
- Give servicemembers the largest pay raise in over a decade while protecting the reproductive rights of servicemembers and their families.
- Push President Biden to approve the Willow Project.
- Secure the largest investments in a renewable energy grid in U.S. history, which will power 75% of Alaskans with 85% renewable energy by 2035.
- Introduce Landless Legislation to end 50 years of unfulfilled promises to Alaska Native communities.
- Connect our communities with over a billion dollars in infrastructure investment.
- Establish the Office of Food Security fight food insecurity amongst veterans in Alaska and nationwide.
- Create high-paying union jobs for Alaska’s working families, and so much more.
And I'm
Just Getting STARTED.
To put it simply: the uncertainty we have faced is starting to give way to a future that Alaskans can depend on.
I see a future where there is no doubt that my granddaughters will get to see a salmon run like it was when I was their age.
I see a future where there is no doubt that Alaska families will be able to live prosperously in the state we call home.
I see a future where Alaskans can grow up in Alaska, raise their children in Alaska, and watch their grandchildren grow up in Alaska.
To hell with politics, this is about the future of Alaska.
Let’s secure that future together.
